Pat Sine to speak on Social Networking
Pat Sine, the University of Delaware's Information Technologies Director, a well known authority on the Internet and Social Networking and its impact on our lives, will talk to 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders and their parents on Tuesday, March 30 at 7:00 pm in Masci Hall.
All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and their parents must attend. Any other interested parents are welcome.
Technology is ever present. Social networking sites like Facebook, text messaging, Twitter, and other online activities are part of our daily lives. Our children need to understand the power of technology and learn to use it responsibily. Ms. Sine will give parents and children guidance in using today's technologies. Her presentation will help parents be more proactive in monitoring their children's activities.

A special Note from Mrs. Walsh, K-5 Computer Teacher: We are discussing these and other interactive Internet web sites in our 3rd through 5th classes - just to begin to teach them of the purpose of these sites, guide them on responsibile usage, and the possible consequenses and repurcussions if used incorrectly. During class, I've had several students talk about their use of or them wanting to use Facebook and MySpace because they see their older sibling(s) or cousins use them. So I think it would be extremely beneficial for younger students attend as well.

Catholic Schools - Dividends for Life: Faith, Knowledge, Discipline, Morals
Catholic Schools Week begins on January 31, 2010. This year's theme is
Catholic Schools~Dividends for Life
Faith, Knowledge,Discipline, Morals
At PJPII we are incorporating our Connections theme into Catholic Schools Week. The four points of our symbol of the Celtic Knot represent the four dividends of Catholic Education:Faith, Knowledge, Discipline and Morals.A Catholic Education has always been a hallmark of quality because Catholic Education's primary purpose is the formation of each child in the light of Christ. Faith, knowledge, discipline and morals are inextricably woven into Christian formation. One can only live a Christ-centered life through these attributes. The value of Catholic Education runs deeper than learning and understanding;it goes to the root of us.It nutures the timeless dignity of each person. Catholic Education ~ Truly Dividends for Life.
The schedule of activities for Catholic Schools Week is attached.

Thank you for MLK Day of Service
On Friday, January 15, PJPII students participated in a Day of Service. All students and staff contributed toiletries to make more than 150 care kits for Friendship House to distribute. Grades 4 and 5 visited Foulk Manor North to meet residents and share in some activities with them. Grades Pre K through 8 participated in a Prayer Service for Peace and then all students worked together on Valentines to send to members of the military serving overseas. The day was a success. In addition to making a Day of Service an annual event, PJPII wants to establish ongoing partnerships with various organizations to ensure that service is a part of school life.
